What Our SEO Services Cover

Most programmes use four or five of these at any one time. Which ones depends on what is currently holding the site back, which is the first thing we work out.

SEO audit

A full technical and content review that produces a prioritised list of what to fix, in what order, with the reasoning attached so your developers can act on it without a translation layer.

SEO consultancy

Strategy, reviews and training for teams who deliver in house. Senior input on the decisions that are expensive to get wrong, without a full retainer.

Local SEO

Visibility in the map pack and in searches with local intent. Business profile management, location pages, citations and reviews.

Link building

Authority earned through digital PR, partnerships and placements, judged on the relevance and quality of the site linking rather than on volume.

Ecommerce SEO

Category and product page structure, internal linking, and the content that captures buying searches across a large range.

SEO content

Pages written to answer a specific query better than what currently ranks for it, from brief through to publication and refresh.

Migrations and redesigns

URL mapping, redirect planning, pre launch checks and post launch monitoring, so a new site keeps the rankings the old one earned.

Three Things Decide Whether You Rank

Search engines weigh hundreds of signals, but almost all of them serve one of three questions. Diagnosing which of the three is your constraint is what separates a programme that works from a list of tasks.

01 The floor

Can it be found and understood

Crawling, indexing, site speed, structure and markup. This is the floor. A page that cannot be reached or read properly will not rank however good it is, and fixing it is usually the fastest available gain.

02 Relevance

Does it answer the query better

Relevance, depth, and whether the page matches the intent behind the search rather than the words in it. Most pages that fail here fail because they answer a slightly different question from the one being asked.

03 Authority

Is the source credible

Links from relevant sites, consistent information about who you are across the web, and demonstrable expertise on the subject. This is the slowest to build and the hardest for a competitor to copy.

How an SEO Programme Runs

  1. 01

    Diagnose

A technical and content audit, competitor analysis, and a review of what already converts in paid search. The output is a ranked list where every item has an expected impact and an effort estimate against it.

  2. 02

    Fix the foundations

Technical work first, because content and links applied to a site with indexing problems produce a fraction of what they should.

  3. 03

Improve what exists, then build what is missing

Most of the early gain is already on the site. Pages that answer a slightly different question from the one being asked get rewritten around the real intent, titles and headings are reworked, pages competing with each other for the same term are consolidated, and content that has slipped is refreshed rather than replaced. New pages come after that, where demand exists and nothing on the site answers it.

  4. 04

    Earn authority and hold it

Digital PR and placements to build the credibility that keeps competitive positions, plus monitoring so a lost position is noticed in the same week rather than the next quarter.

Technical, content and links are three sides of the same job. I sequence them rather than pick one: fix what stops a page being read, then make it answer the query better, then earn the authority that holds the position.

Three Situations That Need Their Own Approach

Selling in a place, not just on a website

Local search works on different signals from the rest of SEO. Proximity, the completeness and consistency of your business information, review volume and the strength of the page behind each location all feed the map pack, which sits above the traditional results for anything with local intent. For multi site businesses the additional problem is scale: location pages that are genuinely useful rather than a template with the town name swapped, because the templated version rarely holds its position.

Competing with your own retailers for your own products

For brands sold through stockists and marketplaces, the first page for your own product names often belongs to someone else. Retailers carry more authority, more pages and more reviews, and on a straight product term they will usually win. The work is choosing where to compete and where not to. Brand and range pages that answer what a retailer listing never covers, ingredient and comparison content that earns the position on merit, and consistent product naming so that every mention across the web points back to you rather than scattering.

Ecommerce product and listing work

Rebuilding a site without losing what it earned

A redesign is the single most common way to lose organic traffic overnight, and it is entirely avoidable. The work is URL mapping before the build is finished rather than after, a redirect plan with one hop per old URL, a pre launch check on a staging environment, and daily monitoring for the first weeks so anything missed is caught while it is still cheap to fix.

One hop per old URL
Old site New site
/old-category/ /new-category/
/old-category/item/ /new-category/item/
/legacy-page.html /new-category/legacy-page/

Mapped before launch, checked on staging, monitored daily afterwards.

AI search

SEO When the Answer Appears Above the Results

AI overviews and assistants now answer a significant share of questions without sending a click. That changes what SEO is optimising for, but not as completely as the headlines suggest. The pages that get summarised and cited are largely the pages that already rank, and the same foundations decide both: a site that can be crawled, content that answers the question directly, and a brand described consistently enough that a model can attribute a claim to it.

What changes is the measurement. Impressions and clicks alone no longer describe your visibility, so we track which assistants name you, for which questions, and how that moves as the work progresses.

Three Ways to Work With Us on SEO

01

Start with an audit

A fixed scope piece of work that tells you what is wrong, what it is costing and what to do about it. It stands on its own, and it is the sensible first step when nobody can say why performance is where it is.

02

An ongoing programme

Monthly delivery across technical, content and authority, against agreed targets and a roadmap you can see. The right model when the work is continuous and the competition is active.

03

Consultancy alongside your team

Strategy, reviews, training and second opinions for teams who do the work themselves and want a specialist beside them on the decisions that matter.

SEO Alongside Your Other Channels

Paid search tells SEO where to start

The paid search account knows which terms convert, at what cost, within days. Ranking data knows which of those you already own. Together they produce a much shorter and more defensible priority list than search volume alone: the terms that are proven to convert and where you are not yet on the first page. The same evidence works in reverse, so once a position is held, the paid spend on that term can be tested rather than continued out of habit.

Digital PR is how authority actually gets built

Links that move rankings come from coverage worth having. Treating link building as a media relations discipline rather than a procurement exercise produces fewer links and better ones, and the coverage has value of its own. It runs inside our content marketing service.

Regulated categories

SEO in Regulated Categories

Search rewards demonstrable expertise in categories where bad information causes harm, and regulators restrict what can be claimed in the same categories. In pet and animal health, Veterinary Medicines Directorate requirements govern product claims while search engines simultaneously favour content with clear authorship and evidence. Content built with named expert input and a documented claim framework satisfies both, and it is the reason regulated clients often rank well once the work is done properly.

SEO Questions, Answered

What does an SEO retainer actually include each month?

Typically a mix of technical work, content production or improvement, authority building and analysis, with the balance shifting as the programme progresses. Early months are weighted towards technical fixes and quick content wins, later months towards content and authority.

You see the roadmap and know what is being worked on in any given month.

Do we need a full audit before anything starts?

Not always. If the site is small and the issues are obvious, a lighter review is enough and the budget is better spent on the work itself. A full audit earns its cost on larger sites, on sites where performance has dropped without an obvious cause, and before a migration.

Can you guarantee first page rankings?

No, and neither can anyone else, because the placement is decided by a third party against competitors who are also working on it. What can be committed to is the work, the reasoning behind it and the reporting that shows what moved. Where a term is unrealistic for your site in a useful timeframe, we say so at the start and suggest where the effort should go instead.

What will you need from our developers?

Less than most teams fear, if the tickets are written properly. We provide specifications with the reasoning, the expected impact and the acceptance criteria, so a developer can implement without becoming an SEO. Where you have no development resource, we can scope the work for a third party or handle it directly on common platforms.

Will AI search reduce our organic traffic?

For informational queries where the answer is short, yes, and that shift is already visible in most accounts. For queries with commercial intent, where someone is comparing, checking a price or ready to buy, the click still happens because the decision needs more than a summary. The practical response is to weight content towards the questions that precede a purchase, and to make sure that when a summary does appear, you are one of the sources it names.

We are redesigning our site. When should we involve you?

Before the URL structure is decided, which is usually earlier than people expect. Most migration losses are caused by decisions made in the wireframe stage and discovered after launch. Coming in at that point costs a fraction of recovering afterwards, and it rarely changes the design.
